Perseid Meteor Shower Peaks August 13: Up to 100 Shooting Stars Per Hour
The Perseid meteor shower is one of the three major annual meteor showers, known for its high meteor count and reliability. Falling right in the middle of summer break, it's a hugely popular celestial event. In 2026, the Perseids will reach their peak during the late hours of August 12 through the early morning of August 13, with a zenithal hourly rate of approximately 100 meteors. Plan to head out after 11 PM on August 12 — the meteor shower peak is expected in the pre-dawn hours of August 13.
