KA-IN at the Romaeuropa Festival

The performance will take place on 26 September (7pm) and 27 September 2026 (5pm) at the Romaeuropa Festival. Following the success of "Fiq!" at REF 2024, "KA-IN" features choreographer Raphaëlle Boitel, who brings her unmistakable signature to the company: a formally precise, physical and choreographic language that balances momentum, fall, control, and vertigo.

The result is a danced circus in chiaroscuro, permeated by sand, light, and ceaseless movement. Portés, jumps, balances, and collective figures become the material of a story about youth as a force of risk, a desire to push beyond limits, and the possibility of a brotherhood yet to be invented. Heirs to the Moroccan acrobatic tradition rooted in Amazigh culture, the artists move as a compact, pulsating organism from which individual quests for affirmation occasionally emerge.

The Legacy of Groupe Acrobatique de Tanger

Founded by Sanae El Kamouni, who believed these artists could invent a new narrative, the company invited director Aurélien Bory to Tangier to create the first contemporary Moroccan acrobatic show, "TAOUB" (2004). Since then, they have staged numerous productions including "Chouf Ouchouf" (2009), "Azimut" (2013), and the collective creation "Halka" (2016).

The company places popular culture at the heart of its project — a militant, democratic culture accessible to all. Their mission is to question, preserve, and promote Moroccan acrobatics, constantly exploring the dialogue between ancestral tradition and contemporary creation, between Morocco (on African soil) and France (in Europe).

Raphaëlle Boitel's Choreographic Universe

Since her first show, Boitel has developed an original choreographic language born from human relationships and everyday life. Her vocabulary intertwines dance, theatre, film, and circus arts, summoning emotion, virtuosity, contortion, and connections between performers.

Every detail contributes to a metaphorical language expressed to the fingertips, immersed in a powerful visual universe supported by intense work on light. Born in 1984, Boitel began theatre at age six and entered the École Nationale des Arts du Cirque Fratellini at eight. From 1998 to 2010 she worked with James Thierrée, founded her own company in 2012, and choreographed Macbeth at Teatro alla Scala.
