Descend nine metres underground and stroll through halls that tell the story of Rome’s history

Everyone knows the famous Trevi Fountain, but few know of the underground passages stretching beneath the Trevi district. In this intricate labyrinth of ancient ruins, the Vicus Caprarius archaeological area — the 'City of Water' — forms a part: here you will find the structures of an Imperial Domus, the water system of the Aqua Virgo, and the fascinating exhibits discovered during the renovation of Cinema Trevi (including the famous face of Alessandro Helios). On this journey back in time, you can experience Rome’s millennia‑old stratigraphy firsthand and observe archaeological evidence of the major events that shaped Rome’s history, from the construction of the Aqua Virgo to Nero’s fire, from Alaric’s sack to the siege by the Goths.

Enjoy the archaeological site while listening to an audio guide to uncover all the mysteries and legends
