Medievale Fest returns to Guidonia Montecelio for its third edition, running from 21 to 23 August in the Giardino dei Frati. More than a historical re-enactment, this is a fully immersive, educational experience: street performers, knights, artisans practising age-old crafts and costumed villagers will bring the sights, sounds and flavours of the Middle Ages back to life.

Visitors can try their hand at traditional crafts in the workshops, watch knights demonstrate their skills, and hear villagers recount daily life centuries ago.

Described as a time machine of music, flavours and folk tradition, the festival transports Montecelio back to the heart of the medieval era — and entry is completely free.

Location: Giardino dei Frati di Montecelio, Via XXV Aprile 38, Guidonia Montecelio (near Rome)

What's New for 2026

This year's programme adds the "Volo degli Aquiloni" (kite flight) show at the Rocca Medievale, filling the castle sky with medieval colours and symbols. Over the three days, themed talks will explore medieval history, folk traditions, life in fortified villages and ancient arts — a great chance to learn more and chat with experts and enthusiasts.
