Art and culture lovers visiting Vancouver can look forward to a special art event this autumn. The Art Rental & Sales Showroom, operated by the Vancouver Art Gallery, is hosting a featured showcase and artist talk by Angie Quintanilla Coates titled Hope for Everything.
Bold colours and reclaimed wood artwork
Quintanilla Coates turns strangely shaped pieces of reclaimed wood into bold, vivid compositions. Drawing inspiration from Mexican tile design and folk art, her artwork uses repetition, distinct shapes and saturated colour to build rhythm and movement. She treats colour as both a personal and cultural language, inviting visitors to pause, celebrate, and feel what she calls dopamina mexicana. Among the works on display is her 2026 piece I Believe In Second Chances II, made with acrylic on reclaimed wood.

Exhibition details and free artist talk
Visitors can join Quintanilla Coates for a featured artist talk on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 6 PM to 8 PM in the Art Rental & Sales Showroom. The talk is free and open to the public, though space is limited. Attending guests are encouraged to RSVP by emailing info@artrentalandsales.com to reserve a seat, though advance registration is not strictly required.
For those unable to attend the talk, Quintanilla Coates' work remains on display in the showroom until November 6, 2026. The showroom itself is situated on the first floor of the Vancouver Art Gallery and offers free entry to the public from Monday to Friday, between 10 AM and 5 PM.
