September in Vancouver brings thinner crowds, milder weather, and early autumn foliage. For travellers visiting from the United States and Canada, the month offers comfortable temperatures and various outdoor activities and festivals without peak-season pricing.

Weather and Packing

Daytime highs average 18 degrees Celsius to 22 degrees Celsius, while nighttime lows drop to 11 degrees Celsius to 14 degrees Celsius. The city experiences around 80 millimetres of precipitation during the month. Packing essentials include:

  • A lightweight waterproof jacket or shell

  • Long-sleeve shirts or merino wool base layers

  • A fleece or light sweater for cool evenings

  • Comfortable walking shoes or water-resistant sneakers

Travellers heading to Whistler or Grouse Mountain should pack a warmer mid-layer and sturdy hiking boots, as temperatures there can be 5 degrees Celsius to 10 degrees Celsius lower than in the city. The Canadian dollar trades around 1 USD to 1.35 CAD.
