The Michelin Guide 2026 KL & Penang ceremony, held today at Four Seasons Hotel KL, delivered wins all round. Every restaurant that held one Michelin star last year kept it — DC Restaurant, Au Jardin, Molina, Chim by Chef Noom, Aunty Gaik Lean's Old School Eatery and Beta KL.

Even better, two new restaurants earned their first star, and by coincidence both sit on the same street in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI): modern Malaysian restaurants Terra Dining and Akar.

Chef Darren Teoh was arguably the night's biggest winner, with his restaurant Dewakan retaining its two Michelin stars for a third consecutive year and its Green Star for a second, in recognition of its sustainability efforts. His new French restaurant Bidou also took home a special award, Opening of the Year. The restaurant serves authentic French cuisine that pays homage to French nouvelle cuisine and draws inspiration from legends like Paul Bocuse and Michel Guérard.

Other notable honourees include Chef Wong Chin Hua — better known as Chef Chin — of Restaurant Shu KL, who received the Young Chef Award; the one-year-old restaurant also made the Michelin Select list. Maverick Fung of K Kuala Lumpur was given the Guide Service Award for his attentiveness and deep ingredient knowledge at the kaiseki restaurant.
