A 60-year-old Kaohsiung Yancheng institution is raising its prices. A-Ying Pork Chop Rice, a Michelin Bib Gourmand pick, has announced it will adjust some menu prices from August due to rising ingredient and operating costs.

Signature Dish: Freshly Fried Pork Chop Rice

Located on Fuye Road in Yancheng District, A-Ying Pork Chop Rice is a local old-school favourite. Its signature pork chop is fried to order—crispy outside, tender inside—and served with house-made pickled mustard greens and a braised egg, drawing long queues for decades.

Updated Prices (from August)

From 1 August, some items rise by NT$5: the "basic pork chop rice" stays at NT$100 (pork chop, rice, pickled greens and braised egg); "pork chop rice + 3 sides" goes from NT$165 to NT$170; and the "chicken leg rice set" from NT$175 to NT$180.

Owner's Commitment: Fresh Pork

On the price adjustment, the owner says the shop insists on using higher-cost fresh (never-frozen) pork. For sides, the first two vegetables cost NT$15 each and a third side is NT$35. The shop admits gas and other costs have surged since the Lunar New Year, and it held out for half a year before making the modest August adjustment.
