The Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau is bringing back the Kaohsiung Love and Moon Hot Air Balloon Festival for the autumn season. The event spans across two distinct locations: Tianliao Moon World and Love River, offering visitors contrasting landscapes ranging from unique mud badlands to urban waterfronts.
The UK's The Times previously selected Kaohsiung as one of the top 20 cities globally for an autumn visit, making it the only city in Taiwan to make the list. Travellers can plan trips around the autumn holidays to experience the festival, local food, and scenic views.

Dual Venues at Moon World and Love River
The festival is divided into two phases across different locations. The first phase takes place at Tianliao Moon World from 25 September to 28 September, followed by a second phase at Love River during the National Day long weekend from 9 October to 11 October.
Tianliao Moon World is known for its distinct mud badlands topography. The hot air balloons provide a striking visual contrast against this natural landscape. Visitors exploring this venue can also check out the Tianliao Visitor Centre, view the geological scenery, and sample local delicacies such as mud ice cream, douhua, tea eggs, and Tianliao local chicken dishes.

The Love River venue offers a completely different urban atmosphere. Visitors can stroll along the riverbanks or take water recreation facilities like Love Boats and gondolas to view the hot air balloons and city skyline from the water.
Kaohsiung Bravo Shape Balloon and Tethered Rides
The event features a 28-metre-tall Kaohsiung Bravo shaped hot air balloon alongside standard hot air balloons. Kaohsiung Bravo, the city's tourism ambassador, has previously travelled to international cities in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines for tourism promotion.
Two large standard balloons are available for tethered flight experiences, allowing visitors to ascend and view the landscape from above. Photo installation spots and speciality markets are also set up at the venues for visitors.
