Director Zhang Yimou's "Macau 2049" — culture meets technology

After a busy week, skip the shopping spree and settle in for a world-class show instead. "Macau 2049" is a spectacular stage production by acclaimed director Zhang Yimou and a world-class creative team, using technology to reinterpret intangible cultural heritage and pull audiences into the moment.

Travel tip: from August 1, 2026, showtimes move to 15:00 (3 pm) with a runtime of about 80 minutes. After the show, head to the Spectacle for seasonal installations and performances, and explore MGM COTAI's extensive art collection before a seamless transition into dinner.

"Aji" — Michelin-starred contemporary Asian cuisine

After the show, MGM COTAI offers several starred restaurants. The Fine Dining highlight is Aji, a contemporary Asian restaurant helmed by Executive Sous Chef Pun Si Wai, holding a Michelin star for two consecutive years and its first Black Pearl Diamond.

The restaurant crafts Asian flavours from seasonal ingredients, weaving together heritage and innovation, with a bar, main dining room and an open-kitchen counter experience. The tasting journey places strong emphasis on wine, sake and cocktail pairings — ideal for couples or close friends with a taste for the finer things.

Bar Patuá — poetic, story-driven cocktails

After dinner, move to Bar Patuá, a cocktail haven steeped in Macau's charm. Conceived around the "Traveler's Whisper" concept, its themed spaces — the Mirror Room, Secret Room and Chess Room — invite socialising, quiet conversation, tasting and exploration, finding resonance in the clink of glasses and hushed whispers. The bar also hosts occasional guest bartenders for unexpected limited-edition surprises, wrapping up the day on a perfect note.
