Stanley Park Tops the List

For Smulders — best known for How I Met Your Mother and the Marvel Cinematic Universe — Stanley Park is non-negotiable. "I think you have to do Stanley Park. I think that's kind of a must," she told Daily Hive. Consistently ranked among the world's most beautiful sights, the park's Seawall offers postcard-worthy views of the North Shore mountains, Burrard Inlet, and English Bay. Rent a bike and cruise the waterfront path — it's easily one of Vancouver's best afternoon activities.

Family-Friendly Picks & Adventure Spots

Beyond the park, Smulders says where you go next depends on your style. Travelling with kids? She points to the Vancouver Aquarium and Science World as top choices. For thrill-seekers, the Capilano Suspension Bridge gets her enthusiastic stamp of approval. And then there's Granville Island — another "must" on her list. Smulders is a devoted fan of Hobbs Pickles, a New York-style pickle counter inside the Granville Island Public Market, and says her perfect Vancouver day always includes a stop there for fresh produce and local bites.

Sports & Dining

The actress also encourages visitors to catch a game while they're in town, shouting out the Canucks, Whitecaps, BC Lions, Vancouver Rise, and Goldeneyes. "We have so many great teams and multiple women's leagues," she noted. As for her favourite restaurant? The Mackenzie Room in Railtown. "I will shout to the mountains, to the top of Grouse Mountain, my love of The Mackenzie Room. It's my favourite restaurant in Vancouver," Smulders said, adding that it was started by a high-school friend and is a must-stop on every trip home.
