The Visit

After a brief stop outside the monument to learn about its history, the visit continues inside the Gate where you can climb to the panoramic terrace and enjoy a privileged view over the iconic square below, the Tridente district, and the striking perspective of Via Flaminia.

This extraordinary opening offers insight into the history of the monument and its surrounding context, along with the main features of Rome's UNESCO World Heritage Site, whose Documentation Centre is located inside Porta del Popolo. The activity is led by Vanessa Ascenzi, Elisabetta Maffioli, and Livia Concetta Mugavero.

Meeting point: Porta del Popolo, Piazza del Popolo 11 D (near the left arch of the Gate, facing Piazza del Popolo).

Please note: the activity is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties as there are 120 steps to climb. Booking is mandatory by calling 060608, available daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Maximum 15 participants. If spaces remain, you may also join on the day at the site.
