Yamanashi City (Yamanashi)
Yamanashi City is located in eastern Yamanashi Prefecture at the foot of Mount Fuji, renowned for its fruits, wine, and pastoral landscapes. Shōsenkyō Gorge is one of Japan's most beautiful valleys, with oddly shaped rocks, waterfalls, and autumn leaves creating picturesque scenery all year round. Yamanashi wine has a long history, and many wineries offer tours and tastings. Isawa Onsen hot spring resort area is lined with ryokan inns, providing a relaxing and healing experience. As the 'Kingdom of Fruits,' it is abundant with peaches (sweet and juicy) from June to August, while grapes and apples reach excellent quality in winter. A representative local dish is hōtō (thick wheat noodles simmered with miso and vegetables), which warms both body and soul. Koshu beef, Yamanashi sushi, and processed grape products offer unique flavours.
