Guilin City (Zhuang language: Gveilinz, postal romanization: Kweilin), abbreviated as Gui, is a prefecture-level city under the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, located in the northeastern part of Guangxi. Guilin is situated in the southwestern part of the Nanling Mountains in the northeastern Guangxi mountainous area, at the southern end of the Xiang-Gui Corridor, with the Yuecheng Range to the north, the Haiyang Mountains and Dupang Range to the east, and the Tianping Mountains to the west. The terrain is mainly hilly, with a typical karst peak forest area in the central region. The Li River and the Xiang River are the two major rivers in the area, connected by the Lingqu Canal. Guilin is one of the first batch of National Historical and Cultural Cities and an excellent tourist city in China. Its landscapes are renowned worldwide, earning the reputation of "Guilin's scenery is the best under heaven." Ecological parks and cultural landscapes include Seven Star Park, Elephant Trunk Hill, Fubo Hill, Diecai Hill, West Hill Park, Chuanshan Park, Yushan Park, Yangshuo Xanadu, Daxu Ancient Town, Nanxishan Park, Yanshan Botanical Garden, among others.
