Ping'an Zhuang Rice Terraces: A Classic Pastoral Landscape

Ping'an Village is a classic destination for visiting the Longji Rice Terraces, with well‑developed tourism and ample dining, entertainment, and leisure facilities. The village has about 170 households and over 700 residents, primarily of the Zhuang ethnic group, with most families bearing the surname Liao. The terraces consist of small plots, creating a serene and picturesque scenery. In autumn, when crops ripen, the terraces turn golden, offering an exceptionally beautiful view. The scenic area features two observation decks: "Seven Stars Accompanying the Moon" and "Nine Dragons and Five Tigers," though visitors need to use some imagination. "Seven Stars Accompanying the Moon" refers to seven small hillocks left during the original terrace construction, resembling stars surrounding a moon‑like terraced field. "Nine Dragons and Five Tigers" describes nine small ridges branching off the main Longji range, along with five slightly raised hilltops resembling tigers, encircling the terraces and guarding the land.

Longji Ancient Zhuang Village Rice Terraces: A Historic and Pristine Landscape

Longji Ancient Zhuang Village is one of the oldest ancient villages in the scenic area, with a history dating back to the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It has over 200 households and more than 1,000 residents, primarily of the Zhuang ethnic group, with most families bearing the surnames Pan, Liao, and Hou. Due to its remote location and late development, the village retains its original terrace landscapes. The traditional stilted wooden houses scattered along the ridge offer an authentic and unique sight. Visitors can walk up the stone‑paved paths to admire stone bridges, steles, and carvings that tell stories of the past, pass by the "Ancestral Field," and reach the "Long Ditch" observation deck for a panoramic view of the entire village. On the way down, they can stop at the "Swimming Dragon Descending to the River" viewpoint to see the layers of terraces spiralling down like a giant dragon to the Jin River, a truly spectacular sight.

Jinkeng Hongyao Rice Terraces: Majestic Field Curves

Besides the grand terrace scenery, the long hair of the Red Yao women here is also a striking sight. Jinkeng Dazhai Village has 245 households and over 1,130 residents, primarily of the Yao ethnic group, with most families bearing the surname Pan. Visitors can hike up the stone‑paved path to the "Thousand‑Layer Heavenly Ladder" observation deck to see the cascading terraces stacked like a ladder reaching the clouds, a magnificent view. Continuing upward, the "Western Mountain Shao Music" observation deck offers a panoramic view of the terraces, an awe‑inspiring scene. To reach the "Golden Buddha Peak" observation deck, where the entire mountain resembles a seated Maitreya Buddha, visitors can take a cable car from the foot of the mountain at Jinkeng Dazhai Village.
