Product Details

Reed Flute Cave is located by the Peach Blossom River in the northwest of Guilin city, making it one of the more accessible karst caves from the city centre. Inside the cave, there are numerous exquisite stalagmites, stalactites, stone pillars, stone curtains, and stone flowers, resembling a magnificent underground palace. The most beautiful part is the "Crystal Palace," which was once a filming location for the original version of Journey to the West. Reed Flute Cave gained fame quite early. After the reform and opening up, it has hosted numerous domestic and international heads of state and dignitaries, who have all given it high praise, making the people of Guilin very proud of it.

Reed Flute Cave is 240 metres deep, with a tour route of about 500 metres, taking approximately 40 minutes to explore. After entering the cave, you will weave through the gaps between the numerous stone pillars, and with the illumination of colourful lights, it feels as if you are in a fairyland. The cave offers a free Chinese guided tour service; the guides are very thorough, stopping at each scenic spot, and the experience is more immersive when combined with the explanations. However, the downside is that the guide moves on immediately after explaining, leaving no time for visitors to savour the moment, and the colour lights are controlled by the guide, turning off as they leave, so you cannot linger. During peak season, when multiple groups enter the cave simultaneously with more than one guide, this is not an issue, as you can simply tag along with the following group's guide.

Compared to other karst caves, Reed Flute Cave is characterised by abundant dripping water within the cave, resulting in a particularly large number of stalactites, stalagmites, and stone pillars that form fillings within the cave. The cave is filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and stone pillars, forming landscapes such as Lion Ridge Morning Glow, Red Silk Treasure Canopy, Coiled Dragon Pagoda, Primitive Forest, Crystal Palace, and Flower and Fruit Mountain. Among these, the Crystal Palace is located deep within an ancient underground lake, with the height gradually decreasing towards the surroundings, but the stalactites hang like palace lanterns, appearing magnificent and noble. The cave has many steps and the ground is slippery, so please watch your step and wear comfortable walking shoes.
