The only thing better than seeing live theatre is seeing it without going into debt. With that now a rare treat, events like NYC Broadway Week carry extra weight. Like Restaurant Week or a Black Friday sale, it's the chance to convince yourself you'd be losing money if you didn't snap up 2-for-1 tickets to 25 Broadway shows. That's just the maths.

Thankfully, plenty of shows this year are worth the money. The fall edition runs September 8 through September 20, with tickets already on sale. Participating productions include & Juliet, Aladdin, The Book of Mormon, Buena Vista Social Club, Chicago, The Great Gatsby, Hadestown, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Just in Time, The Lion King, The Lost Boys, Maybe Happy Ending, MJ, Oh, Mary!, Operation Mincemeat, The Outsiders, Paranormal Activity, The Rocky Horror Show, Schmigadoon!, School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play, Six, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Titaníque, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) and Wicked.

If that breadth feels overwhelming, don't worry — we've got you. Here are five musicals worth putting on your radar.

Five musicals to snag 2-for-1 tickets to during NYC Broadway Week:

Hadestown

If you still haven't seen Anaïs Mitchell's Tony-winning underworld fever dream, Broadway Week is the perfect excuse. Hadestown reimagines the myths of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone as a smoky, jazz-inflected folk musical, with a score that has become a modern Broadway classic. It's romantic, melancholic and very good at making you reconsider the wisdom of looking back.

The Outsiders

This adaptation of S.E. Hinton's coming-of-age novel won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical, and it features one of Broadway's most talked-about stage moments: a full-on rumble that turns the theatre into a battleground. The Greasers-versus-Socs story stays intact, while a propulsive score and athletic choreography make it far more than a nostalgia trip.

Maybe Happy Ending

This sweet, strange musical about two lonely robots in a futuristic Seoul became one of Broadway's surprise hits, winning the 2025 Tony Award for Best Musical. It's intimate, funny and unashamedly sentimental, with a story that sneaks up on you. If you'd rather skip the rumbles and death in favour of existential questions about what it means to be alive, start here.

Buena Vista Social Club

Inspired by the legendary Cuban album, this Broadway musical brings the music of Havana to the stage through a story of love, memory and musicians finding their way back to one another. The score is packed with classics from the band's catalogue, making it the Broadway Week pick that feels as much like a concert as a traditional musical.

SIX

There may be no better time to see SIX than right now. The pop musical about Henry VIII's six wives is set to close on Broadway on January 3, 2027, after 2,178 performances — making this Broadway Week deal a perfect excuse for a farewell visit. Already seen SIX? Titanique closes September 20 as well. Or catch both to say goodbye! After all, tickets are two for one. You'd be losing money if you didn't.
