NYC's Citi Field Just Ranked No. 1 in America for Game-Day Eats

Baseball's seventh-inning stretch anthem may still urge fans to “buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks,” but that lyric is long overdue for an update.

Stadium food has gone seriously gourmet. Yelp recently analyzed hundreds of game-day venues across the MLB, NFL, WNBA, and NBA to crown the true Hall of Famer of stadium dining—and New York came out on top.

Queens' own Citi Field grabbed the No. 1 spot on Yelp's “Top 50 Stadiums for Game-Day Eats.” With 27 vendors inside the ballpark, standouts include The Queensboro's Kimchi Reuben—house-cured corned beef, kimchi fennel, and Russian dressing stacked on toasted rye—and Willets Point Brewery's 9-9-9 Challenge, which dares fans to finish nine mini Nathan's hot dogs and nine four-ounce beers over nine innings.

Also worth trying: the fried chicken and kimchi slice at Napoli's Pizza Co., and brisket mac and cheese at Pig Beach BBQ. Head to the upper deck for the Coca-Cola Corner food truck, run by the Taqueria Ramirez crew, serving gloriously roasted, fatty suadero and pastor tacos.

Citi Field wasn't New York's only entry. Madison Square Garden landed at No. 5, where Carnegie Deli's smoky stacked sandwiches and Paulie Gee's wood-fired slices hit the spot during a Knicks game or a Harry Styles concert. Yankee Stadium, Citi Field's crosstown rival, placed 21st—thanks to Magnolia Bakery blondies and brownies plus an on-site demo butchery from Lobel's USDA Prime Steak Sandwich.

Queens doubled up on the list, with the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at No. 40. The venue is open year-round, but its food village only springs to life for the US Open—and with Fan Week kicking off August 23, fans can soon dig into dry-aged steaks from Champions by Benjamin Steakhouse, caviar-topped nuggets from COQADOQ, and newcomers Salt Hanks and Enrique Olvera's Cosme.
