Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the USTA announced that 1,000 tickets will go on sale exclusively to New York City residents starting Wednesday, August 26 at 10am, on a first-come, first-served basis at usopen.org/NYCtickets — with a two-ticket limit per resident.

The deal covers Main Draw matches from Sunday, August 30 through Tuesday, September 8. Each ticket includes an Arthur Ashe Stadium seat, access to Louis Armstrong Stadium, and a grounds pass, so buyers can roam the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center and catch matches across multiple courts.

Every ticket carries a face value of at least $100 — and some are worth considerably more. With resale prices for this year's tournament already topping $300, the offer could save fans a sizable chunk of change. The only real test may be your clicking speed when the Main Draw opens.

“If the world's best tennis players are coming to our city, New Yorkers should be able to see them play,” Mamdani said, framing the release as part of his administration's push to make major sporting events more affordable for residents.

That push has also delivered 1,000 lower-priced tickets to 2026 FIFA World Cup matches, free FanFests across the five boroughs, and tickets to Gotham FC games and the USA Track & Field championships.

“We want as many people as possible to experience tennis and the US Open,” said USTA CEO Craig Tiley, “and this additional Main Draw access for New Yorkers only strengthens that commitment.”

The Open already offers eight days of free grounds admission during Fan Week, where visitors watch practices, qualifiers, and mixed doubles. This latest release, though, delivers something far harder to come by: an affordable seat at the tournament itself.
