This nationwide traveling exhibition celebrating OSAMU GOODS' 50th anniversary kicks off in Yokohama, exploring the charm, background, and design philosophy of this "nostalgic yet new" character brand loved across generations.
What is OSAMU GOODS?
OSAMU GOODS was born in 1976, with characters drawn by illustrator Osamu Harada, manufactured by Koji Honpo, and sold by its affiliate DUSTY MILLER. Harada personally designed every item—from selection to materials and shapes—totaling over 4,000 products. With color palettes and high-sense designs reminiscent of overseas goods, it became a coveted item that felt "mature just to own," sparking a huge boom among female students.
Exhibition Highlights
The exhibition features a special "Sogo Museum Collection: Shintaro Suzuki Corner," displaying selected landscape and still-life works by Western-style painter Shintaro Suzuki, whom Harada admired. It also includes a "Junior Room" summer program for children—a study space prioritizing elementary and junior high students to write up viewing notes or field-trip reports.
Dates and Admission
Period: August 1 (Sat)–August 31 (Mon), 2026, open daily. Hours: 10:00–20:00 (last entry 30 minutes before closing). Admission: adults 1,400 (1,200) yen, university/high school students 1,200 (1,000) yen, free for junior high and younger; online tickets receive the discounted (parenthesized) price. A "Museum Tote Bag" set ticket (3,500 yen) includes admission and a limited non-sale bag.
