KyotoNijo-joSakura Nights

Planning a trip to Kyoto for the spring season? The Nijo-jo Sakura Nights 2026 event brings a dazzling combination of projection mapping, illuminated cherry blossoms, immersive theatre performances, and local gourmet food to the historic World Heritage site of Nijojo.

Projection Mapping and Illuminations

Visitors can experience stunning projection mapping displays set against the historic architecture of the castle grounds. The night sakura illuminations light up the trees in soft pale pink hues, creating a gentle spring atmosphere across the entire precinct. Key areas such as Karamon, Ninomaru-goten, the South Gate wall, Sakura-no-Sono, Hommaru Yaguramon, Seiryu-en, and the kitchen front area are all transformed with dynamic light and shadow effects.

Special Night Viewing of Ninomaru-goten Palace

A special evening viewing of the National Treasure Ninomaru-goten allows visitors to experience the quiet grandeur of the historic building at night. Without the daytime crowds, guests can closely observe the gold leaf wall paintings and architectural designs crafted by artisans of the past, offering a deeper sense of the historic space's depth and tension.

Immersive Theatre Shirogeki

Located in the kitchen front garden area, the immersive theatre performance Shirogeki combines large-scale LED visuals with live acting. Blending imagery, sound, and human movement, the production invites audiences directly into the storyline of the Kan'ei Imperial Visit.
