This exhibition focuses on the "color" he captured, drawing primarily from the Sogo Museum of Art collection to explore the cheerful, vivid world Suzuki cherished.
Born in Hachioji, Tokyo, Shintaro Suzuki (1895–1989) was one of Japan's leading Western-style painters, spanning the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras and continuing to paint until the age of 93. His free-spirited, charming imagery — once used on Western confectionery packaging — remains beloved today, and his joyful, warm works continue to soothe and comfort viewers of every generation.
