Kids Under 18 Get Free Broadway Tickets This August — Here's What You Need to Know

Broadway's beloved Kids' Night returns this month with an incredible offer: 21 hit shows are opening their doors to young theatre-goers at no cost.

If you've ever priced out a family trip to Broadway, you know the sticker shock is real. But on Tuesday, August 25, the Kids' Night on Broadway programme flips the script — one free child's ticket comes with every full-price adult ticket purchased.

The 2026 lineup spans 21 productions, from long-running favourites like Wicked, The Lion King, and Aladdin to newer hits such as The Outsiders, Hadestown, and Stranger Things: The First Shadow. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Maybe Happy Ending round out the roster. Two outliers — The Great Gatsby and SIX: The Musical — will host their Kids' Night one day later, on Wednesday, August 26.

Run by The Broadway League, the annual initiative is open to anyone aged 18 and under who attends with a paying adult. While tickets haven't gone on sale yet, families can join the free Broadway Fan Club to get first word when they become available.

The perks don't end at the curtain call. On August 25, Kids' Night ticket holders can also access dining deals at 15 Theatre District restaurants — several of which are offering a complimentary kids' meal with the purchase of an adult entrée. Participating eateries include Carmine's Italian Restaurant Times Square, Ellen's Stardust Diner, Havana Central, P.S. Kitchen, Schnipper's, and Virgil's Real Barbecue. Even the Museum of Broadway and Top of the Rock observation deck are joining the celebration with exclusive promotions.

"Kids' Night on Broadway is one of our favourite traditions because it gives families the opportunity to experience the excitement of live theatre together," said Jason Laks, president of The Broadway League.

Since launching in 1996, the programme has distributed more than 386,000 complimentary children's tickets. One word of advice: double-check each show's age recommendations before booking. A free Broadway seat is a steal, but Paranormal Activity probably isn't the right call for your seven-year-old.
