The evening walk begins at the Theatre of Marcellus (Teatro Marcello), then ascends to Piazza del Campidoglio, where you'll uncover all the secrets of Rome's most important hill. The square is crowned by the equestrian bronze statue of Marcus Aurelius — a masterpiece added in the 1500s that has miraculously survived to this day.
You'll then look out from the terrace overlooking the beautifully illuminated Roman Forum, learning about its history and the grand triumphal ceremonies once held within. The stroll continues along the Imperial Fora (Fori Imperiali), a succession of magnificent monumental squares that shaped the course of Roman history. The walk concludes beneath Trajan's Column (Colonna Traiana) — at 35 metres, the most celebrated carved monument of antiquity.
