The 2026 Dadaocheng Summer Festival kicked off in spectacular fashion on July 25, treating crowds to a breathtaking 20-minute combined drone and fireworks display along the Tamsui River in Taipei.
Over a hundred drones lit up the night sky first, forming iconic Taipei imagery including the city mascot "Bravo" and Taipei Dome, before a surprise appearance by Marvel's Spider-Man. The superhero delighted the audience with signature web-slinging poses and an unexpected Taipei-exclusive twist — holding a cup of bubble tea, drawing cheers from the crowd.

At 8:11 PM, the main event began: a stunning 480-second themed fireworks show titled "Riverside Lights." The display featured cascading waterfalls of light, silver crown willows, and romantic heart and smiley-face patterns, all reflecting beautifully on the river below.
Beyond the sky show, the festival grounds were filled with Spider-Man-themed installations, including a 9-metre-tall Spider-Man figure at Water Gate 5. Street crossing signals were also given a makeover with Spider-Man and Bravo designs. The evening stage featured live performances by Bennu, JOYCE, and Wendy Wander.
The Dadaocheng Summer Festival runs through August 15, with additional fireworks displays on August 5 and a grand finale on August 15 featuring another 20-minute combined drone and fireworks show. Visitors are encouraged to explore Dihua Street's photogenic installations, sample local street food, or relax at riverside cafés before the evening spectacle.

The city has partnered with over 70 hotels across Taipei, offering accommodation deals with discounts of up to 25%. Hotel guests during the festival period may also receive exclusive access to the riverside viewing area. Additionally, a high-speed rail hotel package offers 18% off HSR tickets for Wednesday and Thursday travel through August 16.
