Tamsui Summer Fireworks Are Back — 3 Sundays of Spectacular Shows Starting August 9

The 2026 Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf Summer Spectacular returns with three consecutive Sundays of fireworks — August 9, 16, and 23 — each show launching at 8 PM for a full 10 minutes along the Tamsui River. According to the New Taipei City Fisheries Department, this year's highlight is the debut of a river light show, with each display featuring over 10,000 fireworks, blending 12-inch high-altitude shells with mid- and low-level pyrotechnics.

Three Themed Evenings

Aug 9 — 'Harbour Twilight': Gold, silver-blue, and violet fireworks including golden palm trees, weeping willow cascades, shooting stars, and thousand-spoke wheels paint the summer harbour sky. The evening also hosts the North Coast Fashion Art Festival, featuring an ocean-themed runway show by designer潘怡良's team.

Aug 16 — 'Milky Way Star Chain': Just before Qixi (Chinese Valentine's Day), expect galaxy-inspired effects, heart shapes, and wishing-star fireworks. For the first time, the show teams up with the New Taipei River & Sea Music Festival, bringing live indie bands to soundtrack your summer night.

Aug 23 — 'World Night': The grand finale goes big with rainbow peonies, chase shells, and multi-layered尺玉 shells — a jaw-dropping visual feast paired with a folk music concert.

Best Viewing Spots

Prime front-row seats can be found along the Fisherman's Wharf boardwalk, Lover's Bridge, and around the Fullon Hotel. For a less crowded alternative with sweeping views of the fireworks, river, and Danjiang Bridge, head across the water to Bali North Beach or Bali Cultural Park.

Bonus: Bali City Sand Sculpture Exhibition

Starting August 1 at Bali Left Bank Park, the 2026 Bali City Sand Sculpture Exhibition celebrates a 'Summer Festival' theme in collaboration with Japan's beloved San-X Universe characters. Expect 16 themed sand sculptures, illuminated night displays, and an opening-day appearance by Rilakkuma and Korilakkuma. Free sand-sculpting workshops for kids aged 8-15 run every Saturday from August 8 (registration required).

Throughout the festival period, the Fisherman's Wharf area will be lined with artisan markets and food stalls — the perfect excuse to arrive early, eat your way through the afternoon, and stay for the fireworks.
