Kaohsiung's Half-Century Icon 'A-Ying Pork Chop Rice' to Raise Prices by NT$5 in August
A beloved Kaohsiung institution for over 50 years, A-Ying Pork Chop Rice (阿英排骨飯) in Yancheng District has announced a modest NT$5 price increase across its core menu starting August, with the popular chicken leg bento — served with three side dishes — rising from NT$175 to NT$180.

Conveniently located just 600 metres from Yanchengpu MRT Station (Exit 2), this unassuming shop has built its reputation on one thing: a flawlessly fried pork chop. The secret lies in a gossamer-thin, shatteringly crisp coating that clings tightly to the meat — no dreaded separation here — giving way to juicy, aromatic pork with every bite. It is served with stir-fried pickled mustard greens so addictive you will wonder where the rice went.
Citing rising ingredient costs, the shop's August price adjustments apply to all base bento boxes and soups (+NT$5 each), while side dishes remain unchanged. The classic pork chop rice goes from NT$100 to NT$105; with 1 side dish from NT$115 to NT$120; with 2 sides from NT$130 to NT$135; and with 3 sides from NT$150 to NT$155. The chicken leg bento with 3 sides will be NT$180.
