Zhaoqing City, abbreviated as Zhao, historically known as Duanzhou, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province in the People's Republic of China. It is located in the western part of Guangdong Province and is part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Zhaoqing is one of the birthplaces of the ancient Lingnan indigenous culture and has a long history of human activity. Human activity in the Zhaoqing area can be traced back to around 140,000 years ago. The main urban areas of Zhaoqing are located in Duanzhou District, Gaoyao District, and Dinghu District. Duanzhou Fourth Road in Duanzhou District serves as the main commercial centre, situated near the major attraction of Seven Star Crags (Zhaoqing Xinghu Scenic Area). The vicinity also features several high-end hotels and shopping malls, including the Wyndham Grand Hotel, Xinghu Sunshine Hotel, Star Hotel, Xinghu International Plaza, Zhaoqing Impression Plaza, and Grandbuy Times Square. Currently, Zhaoqing boasts 6 national key cultural relics protection units: Mei Temple, Deqing Confucian Temple, Yuecheng Longmu Ancestral Temple, Zhaoqing Ancient City Wall, Seven Star Crags Cliff Inscriptions, and the Former Site of Ye Ting Independent Regiment Headquarters. Zhaoqing also has many famous scenic spots and historic sites, among which the Zhaoqing Xinghu Scenic Area has been rated as a national 5A-level tourist attraction.
