Exhibition Background

The exhibition is the first story in the museum's History Galleries. It displays bone, stone, and shell objects surviving from the site, which is also called the Eburne Midden, Great Fraser Midden, and Marpole Midden.

In the 1920s and 1930s, the Art, Historical and Scientific Association of Vancouver removed over 1,500 artifacts from the Marpole Midden. The exhibition re-examines these historical collection practices and the history of colonialism.
