Vancouver Christmas Market & Holiday Outings

The city's signature German-style Vancouver Christmas Market at Jack Poole Plaza features wooden huts, glühwein served in collectible boot mugs, raclette, schnitzel, bratwurst ($12-16), and baumstriezel chimney cake. Typically running from around 12 November to 24 December daily (11:30am to 9:30pm), standard adult admission has historically run $15-18, multi-visit passes cost $22-25, and children under 6 enter free. Advance online booking is recommended as December weekend gate lines can exceed 45 minutes.

Practical Visitor Tips

  • Transit: Waterfront Station is a 4-minute walk from Jack Poole Plaza. Taking the SkyTrain is highly recommended, as downtown parking costs $6+ per hour. Use contactless payment or a Compass card for easy transit access.

  • Weather: Festive markets are outdoors or in tents. Dress in warm layers suitable for temperatures between 2–8°C and potential rain. Waterproof shoes and baby carriers are advised over strollers.

  • Crowds & Payment: Visit on weekdays before 10 December for shorter lines. While food stalls are generally card-friendly, carrying some cash is helpful for smaller craft stalls.
