Science World After Dark brings magic and illusions to Vancouver
Science World After Dark is always a magical night for adults who want to keep learning while having fun — and this time, the popular 19+ event is getting an extra dose of whimsy.

What to know about the Magic Edition of Science World After Dark
Will there be live magicians?
Absolutely. Some of Vancouver’s top magicians will be on hand for the Science of Sleight, where science turns spellbinding and the limits of illusion and misdirection are pushed.
Ever watched a magic act and wondered “How is that physically possible?” You’ll pick up a few insider tricks here.
The night digs into the science behind sleight of hand — the deft, quick movements magicians use to manipulate objects right before our eyes. It’s wild to think that all that showmanship comes down to precise hand gestures, and that’s exactly what this edition explores.
Whether you’ve always wanted to learn magicians’ secrets or simply want to enjoy Science World’s live events and exhibits with a drink in hand, now’s your chance.
Uncover the secrets of perception in the first-floor Puzzles & Illusions gallery, then feel the pull of physics in Eureka, where real forces create seemingly impossible effects.
Attending magicians include two-time World Champion of Magic Shawn Farquhar, who has entertained global audiences for over 30 years.
Alex Zander specialises in playful, mind-bending interaction, leaving audiences unsure where reality ends and magic begins.
Billy Hsueh rounds out the trio, having spent 20 years performing his blend of magic and comedy internationally.
How much are tickets?
Tickets are available online for $40 each and include access to all of Science World’s current galleries and exhibits.
That includes the Soccer & Technology from the FIFA Museum exhibition, in its final days before wrapping up Sept. 7, 2026.
