Yangmingshan Legend 'Ching Chai Yuen' Opens Neihu Branch: Solo-Friendly White-Cut Chicken Bento Boxes Now Available

The third-generation heirs of Yangmingshan's legendary free-range chicken restaurant "Ching Chai Yuen" have opened a takeaway-only shop called "Ching San Dai" on Wenhu Street in Neihu, Taipei! The biggest surprise: beyond the signature half chicken (NT$500), they now offer daily-limited white-cut chicken bento boxes — chicken leg & wing bento at NT$250, chicken breast bento at NT$200 — meaning solo diners and small families can now enjoy that familiar, jelly-like tender chicken skin without driving all the way up Yangmingshan!

Located near Takming University of Science and Technology, within walking distance from Xihu MRT Station (Wenhu Line), Ching San Dai is still in its soft-opening phase and currently operates as a takeaway shop. The compact storefront features a visible chopping station behind glass windows, with an artsy, modern branding aesthetic.

Beyond white-cut chicken and bento boxes, the menu includes bamboo shoot chicken soup, mushroom chicken soup, and chilli pepper chicken soup (all whole-pot, half-chicken servings at NT$650), plus signature bamboo shoots, boneless chicken feet, sweet potato soup, steamed buns, and herbal jelly. Soup items require advance ordering.

On taste, early reviews are unanimous: the white-cut chicken remains true to the Yangmingshan original — tender and succulent with gelatinous, springy skin, perfectly seasoned with a sweet-savoury balance that needs no dipping sauce. Bento accompaniments include cabbage and bamboo shoots, making each box feel like a compact version of a Yangmingshan mountain feast.
