Airbnb Crowns Toronto's Kensington Market Among Canada's Hottest Neighbourhoods for Summer 2026

Planning a Canadian staycation this summer? Two Ontario neighbourhoods have just earned a spot on Airbnb's list of the country's trendiest places to book right now — and Toronto's beloved Kensington Market is one of them.

Airbnb's latest report reveals that bookings across Canada's 10 trendiest neighbourhoods have surged nearly 180% compared to last year. Even more interesting: the average Canadian guest shells out over $300 per day, with roughly half of that spending happening right in their listing's neighbourhood — all thanks to insider tips from local hosts.

Coming in at number six, Toronto's most eclectic quarter — Kensington Market — earned high praise. Local co-host Elisa describes it as the go-to spot for vintage shoppers and fans of independent, family-run eateries, calling it an 'authentic Toronto experience.'

Her recommendations? Stroll down Baldwin Street for Jamaican oxtail patties, hit the August-Baldwin intersection for some of the city's finest tacos, grab gluten-free treats at Bunners, and don't leave without a slice of classic pizza from Frank Ranalli's — an old-school joint nestled among quirky trinket shops.

At number seven, Ottawa's Glebe neighbourhood represents the capital's historic and upscale side, with host Sean highlighting its walkable charm along the Rideau Canal and the bustling energy of Lansdowne.

Airbnb's data underscores the economic impact of this trend: in 2025 alone, host and guest spending generated an estimated $10.9 billion for the Canadian economy, flowing directly to small businesses, independent shops, and local restaurants across the country.

The complete top 10: Hastings-Sunrise (Vancouver), North End (Kelowna), Shaganappi (Calgary), McKernan (Edmonton), Central St. Boniface (Winnipeg), Kensington Market (Toronto), The Glebe (Ottawa), Golden Square Mile (Montreal), Saint-Sauveur (Quebec City), and Downtown Halifax.
