Product Details

The Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Toronto and is one of the great art museums in North America. Here, you can immerse yourself in a vast collection of over 120,000 artworks, ranging from contemporary pieces to significant works by Indigenous and Canadian artists, as well as European masterpieces.

Founded in 1900 by a group of private art enthusiasts, the Art Gallery of Ontario houses over 80,000 art treasures dating from 100 BC to the present day. The gallery building itself is architecturally distinctive, and visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Toronto from the top floor. In front of the gallery stands a bronze sculpture created by British sculptor Henry Moore. On the north side of the main entrance, a dazzling glass wall and a delicate glass wing adorn the concrete structure, illuminating the entire glass building under the night lights, creating a striking landmark after dusk.

Floor Layout: The gallery has five floors. Upon entering the lobby, you will see a spiral staircase, a design that fully showcases the talent of Frank Gehry.

The first floor exhibits European art collections, including a wealth of artworks from the Medieval and Renaissance periods, such as paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony van Dyck, and Claude Monet.

The second floor is the Henry Moore Sculpture Centre dedicated to the British sculptor. The Italian Gallery is a photography‑allowed area, featuring artworks by renowned Italian artist Giuseppe Penone.

The third floor is the Baillie Court, primarily used for hosting banquets, lectures, and other events.

The fourth and fifth floors focus on modern art, featuring works by artists such as Dufy, Magritte, Picasso, and Van Gogh, along with modern art from Canada, the United States, and Europe, including pieces by Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Jenny Holzer, and works by the distinctive Canadian "Group of Seven" and Inuit artists.

The lower ground floor houses the Thomson Collection of Ship Models, featuring over 150 exquisitely crafted and stylistically diverse ship models from the 17th century to World War II.

Don't miss iconic works such as 'Massacre of the Innocents' by Peter Paul Rubens, as well as original artworks by Canada's Group of Seven, which have earned the gallery its acclaim. Explore the world of art within the gallery's beautiful architecture, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry.
