Yangpyeong Youth Museum, Gyeonggi‑do

The street scenery and various games of the 1970s and 1980s, along with those unforgettable school days, are divided into 8 different experience zones featuring over 100 different experiential spaces!

 Just as kids today can't tear themselves away from the claw machines outside convenience stores, the little shops in the back alleys of the 1970s also had all kinds of irresistible and fun games. From lucky draws, dart throwing and prize draws, to super tasty maltose candy and spicy snack strips — those quirky "junk foods" that only cost 10 won — you can relive all of them at the Youth Museum! In particular, things like the now‑vanished female bus conductor and the grilled sugar pancakes evoke an indescribable sense of nostalgia for adults, while for today's children they are a culture of unfamiliarity they have never experienced. You can also belt out a tune on the stage of "I Am a Singer" that made our neighbourhood's superstar.

 Even without mobile phones or computer games, the lives of kids in the alleys were still rich and colourful. We've prepared a wide range of traditional games such as hammering the peg, shuttlecock kicking, jackstone picking and top spinning, where you can freely immerse yourself and awaken your long‑lost childlike spirit. Besides that, we have also perfectly recreated the breweries, ice cellars and photo studios of those days — strolling through here, you'll feel as if you've been transported back to the 1970s.

Although high‑end saunas and large jjimjilbang bathhouses are everywhere nowadays, back in the old days, every neighbourhood had a public bathhouse. The mischievous kids sneaking peeks at the women's bath, and three generations of a family scrubbing each other's backs — aren't those scenes especially heartwarming? The old bathhouse your mother took you to by hand on holidays or special occasions can be seen right here at the Youth Museum!

Heading up to the 2nd floor of the Youth Museum, you'll hear thumping music and discover that those bygone youthful days are still radiant and full of passion. Swing dancing, disco and other dance hits popular in the 70s, along with the police officers on patrol in miniskirts — these are all familiar scenes experienced by the young people of that era. In the private booths, you can freely choose and play whatever dance tunes you like.

The rusty old train that carried the sorrows and joys of the townsfolk as it slowly chugged along is perfectly recreated here! Walking along the old railway tracks, familiar scenes of the past will unfold one by one — the shoe‑shine lady hawking "Get your shoes polished to a shine!", the bicycle repair shop, and the person waiting for her on the bench.

The multiplex cinema of the 70s may not have had assigned seating, but it was a place that captivated the hearts of young people back then. The simple notice boards and tacky posters, the little snack stall at the entrance selling dried squid and peanuts, and the superstars who seem so outdated now but were the idols of the youth of that time — you can experience it all again here.
