Made famous by the hit Korean drama Winter Sonata, Nami Island is about a 1.5‑hour drive from Seoul and is a popular weekend getaway spot for Koreans. Nami Island offers pleasant scenery all year round — in spring, it is a dazzling garden; in summer, the dense tree shades and cool river breeze provide relief; in autumn, the ground is covered with golden ginkgo leaves and red maple leaves; and in winter, a blanket of white snow makes visitors feel as if they have stepped back into the drama's scenes.
There are two ways to get to Nami Island: one is to take the ferry, and the other is to take the thrilling and fun zip‑wire. The Nami Island zip‑wire is an experience facility that takes you from an 80‑metre‑high tower, using free‑fall dynamics, along a 1‑km‑long zip line to Nami Island. The ride is not only exciting and thrilling, but also offers panoramic views of the nearby Bukhan River, and you can enjoy the refreshing breeze as you speed along. Thrill‑seekers should not miss this — sliding down from a height of 80 metres above the ground, you can admire the island and its surrounding scenery from an excellent vantage point. Crossing the river by zip‑wire takes about 1‑2 minutes to reach the island.

The straight metasequoia groves and ginkgo trees on the island are the signature features of Nami Island. At the centre of Nami Island lies a grassy area of over 80,000 pyeong, surrounded by trees that encircle the entire island like a folding screen.

In addition to the Korean drama filming spots, there are many art galleries, museums, and art centres near the central plaza of Nami Island, which regularly host various exhibitions and performances. There is also a post office and a TV station on the island — you can send postcards from the post office, or even try your hand at being a news anchor at the TV station, where recording is provided free of charge. Another thing worth mentioning is the island's big animal family — all the animals are free‑roaming and live in their own ways. You can see ostriches, which are popular among visitors, and the ubiquitous, sociable large squirrels and magpies.
Taking the zip‑wire, you can experience a free fall from an 80m‑high tower and glide for about 1km, feeling the refreshing river breeze in your face.
