In the Tsou language, 'poftonga‑veoveo', where "poftonga" means "to block" and "veoveo" refers to "sika deer" (Formosan sika deer). It originates from the Tsou ancestors who once lived here — they chased sika deer to the cliffs of Chukou and hunted them there. In remembrance of their ancestors' past life in this area, and as it was also an early hunting ground of the Tsou ancestors, the community was named 'Deer Hunting (Zhulu)'. The Alishan Tsou Zhulu Tribe is not only a comprehensive leisure venue featuring Tsou dance and music, cultural exhibitions, and market stalls, but the park also showcases many indigenous handicrafts and cultural creative products, local agricultural souvenirs, indigenous‑style specialty drinks and coffee, and distinctive cuisine. On weekends and public holidays, there are live performances by tribal singers.
Dance and song performance times: 10:30, 14:00, two shows daily
Last entry for the sika deer experience: 16:30
Opening hours: Every Monday, Wednesday to Sunday 09:00‑17:00; closed every Tuesday

Zhulu is called 'veoveoana' in the Tsou language, meaning 'hunting ground of the sika deer'. Legend has it that this was where Tsou hunters chased and hunted sika deer.

Through the conservation and breeding of sika deer, visitors to Zhulu Tribe can also experience the spectacle of hunters chasing sika deer in the old days.
