Alishan Forest Recreation Area

"Spring for flowers, summer for cool retreats, autumn for maples, winter for clouds" perfectly describes the year‑round charm of Alishan National Forest Recreation Area;

It is also an international‑class tourist attraction that represents Taiwan's cloud forest belt, welcoming travellers from around the world to discover the rich and beautiful landscapes of Taiwan's mountains and forests.

Alishan Forest Train

Riding the historic forest train is one of the most unmissable activities for visitors. The train winds along the mountain ridge, offering spectacular and breathtaking views through the window;

Among the stops, "Zhaoping Station" is a popular one, where you can take a leisurely stroll and admire the majestic presence of the Xianglin Sacred Tree.

Alishan Electric Shuttle

This is the first national forest recreation area in Taiwan to use electric shuttle buses, with a focus on green energy and low‑carbon living, realising the dream of a "Low‑Carbon Taiwan".

The Alishan Electric Shuttle route passes through several key scenic spots within the Alishan Forest Recreation Area, such as the literary Zhaoping area, the must‑see Shuishan hidden gem recommended by experts, the Xianglin area which is the starting point for visiting the sacred (giant) trees, as well as the most popular sunrise‑viewing spot, the "Zhushan Station" route. #

Zhaoping Line (Blue Line)

There are two boarding points: the main waiting station and the visitor centre station. The stop is in front of Zhaoping Park.

Visitors can get off at Zhaoping Station and walk to attractions such as Sisters Ponds. The cherry blossom trees along the route are also the most popular photo spots during the cherry blossom season.

Departure frequency: Visitor Centre Station → Zhaoping Station: approximately 2.2 km, journey time including passenger boarding/alighting is about 10 minutes.

Departure time: 08:00‑17:00, no fixed schedule; departures are flexibly arranged at each stop based on on‑site visitor conditions. If you encounter any boarding issues on site, please ask the service staff at each stop.

Xianglin Line (Red Line)

There are two boarding points: the main waiting station and the visitor centre station. The stop is next to Shouzhen Temple. Visitors can get off at Xianglin Station and walk to attractions such as the Giant Tree Trail.

Departure frequency: Visitor Centre Station → Xianglin Station: approximately 1.8 km, journey time including passenger boarding/alighting is about 8 minutes.

Departure time: 08:00‑17:00, no fixed schedule; departures are flexibly arranged at each stop based on on‑site visitor conditions. If you encounter any boarding issues on site, please ask the service staff at each stop.

Zhushan Line (Yellow Line)

Boarding points are at the main waiting station, visitor centre station, and Zhaoping Station. The stop is at Duigaoyue Station, and passengers alight at Zhushan Station. Visitors wishing to take the return Zhushan Line should board according to the timetable.

Zhushan Station is an important sunrise‑viewing spot within Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. Even outside sunrise hours, there is a chance to admire the sea of clouds from the observation deck. Continuing upward from Zhushan Station leads to the Ogasawara Observation Deck, which offers a stunning 360‑degree panoramic view.

Departure frequency: Visitor Centre Station → Zhushan Station: approximately 5.5 km, journey time including passenger boarding/alighting is about 35 minutes.

A. Daytime Zhushan (uphill) service times: 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 — four time slots 

B. Daytime Zhushan (downhill) service times: 09:30, 11:30, 13:30, 15:30, 16:30 — five time slots

National Freeway 3 → Provincial Highway 3 → Zhuqi Interchange (290K) → County Road 166 (Zhuqi, Taixing, Ruili)

National Freeway 1 → Chiayi System Interchange (272K) → Expressway 82 → National Freeway 3 → Zhongpu Interchange (297K) → Provincial Highway 18

Shuttle bus:

Taipei Bus Station (Kuo‑Kuang Bus) → Chiayi Station → Alishan Station

Convenient access to Yahu Old Street car park:

By train: Take the train to Jiou Dabang Railway Station, walk straight ahead, turn left and ride 120 metres, turn right for 210 metres, and Yahu Old Grandma's Railway Bento will be on your right

Warm Reminders:

Regardless of how many orders are placed, there is only one QR code (electronic voucher). The QR code can be redeemed multiple times; therefore, please use the same QR code to enter the Alishan Forest Recreation Area.

Once the product has been redeemed, no changes, refunds or cancellations are allowed. The system does not permit order modifications.

If you wish to change the number of participants, please apply for a refund and make a new purchase. 

Pets are not allowed inside the recreation area. Camping is prohibited within the recreation area. 

Alishan Forest Recreation Area is open 24 hours a day, all year round. However, the area may be closed following an announcement by the Chiayi County Government. 

Closure of the park shall be in accordance with the "Regulations for Suspension of Office Operations and Classes due to Natural Disasters", or as announced by the forestry administration or management authority for full or partial closure based on actual park conditions, or when visitor safety may be affected.

Please Note: This ticket is valid for adult admission only. Tickets for children, seniors, or persons with disabilities can be purchased on site.

Please refer to the Alishan Electric Shuttle: The shuttle stops at fixed stations, and ticket holders can board at the waiting areas.

In the event of an emergency (e.g., passenger discomfort), the situation will be handled appropriately on site without violating traffic regulations. 

Zhushan Line (Yellow Line): The shuttle has three boarding stops: the terminal station, the visitor centre station, and Zhaoping Station. The shuttle stops before Duigaoyue Station or Zhushan Station.

Yahu Old Grandma's Railway Bento: Please be patient after redeeming your bento. Bento boxes are prepared fresh after ordering. 

There are three bento options: pork chop, chicken, and soy‑braised pork.

The bento box cannot accommodate strict dietary requirements (such as allergies or vegetarian diets). 

Due to adverse weather conditions, the shop may be closed.

This voucher is valid for adults only. Tickets can be purchased at the Alishan Forest Recreation Area counter. The voucher must be presented simultaneously at the Alishan Forest Recreation Area and the Fenqihu Railway Bento counter.
