The 3‑day‑3‑night hiking experience along the Xi‑A Trail in Chiayi is a classic secret route through the mid‑level mountains of Taiwan, connecting two major scenic areas—Alishan and Sun Link Sea—with surprises at every turn! The entire route follows the abandoned railway tracks of the Mianyue Line, passing nostalgic sites such as Shihhou Station and Shiwu Station, encountering centuries‑old red cypress giants, and breathing in the abundant phytoncides. A must‑visit highlight is the Shuiyang Forest, a barrier lake formed by the 921 earthquake, with dead trees standing upright on the lake surface, creating a dreamlike fairyland when morning mist drifts. The 3‑day itinerary is moderately challenging, allowing you to sleep in mountain huts and gaze at vast starry skies, and climb to the pass at dawn to witness rolling seas of clouds and golden sunrises with spectacular views. Along the way, you'll also find diverse scenery such as creek valleys, waterfalls, and lush green meadows. It offers both a physical challenge and a feast of mountain beauty—whether you're a seasoned hiker or an experienced outdoor enthusiast, you'll take home plenty of unforgettable memories. This is a top‑tier must‑do route for hiking in Chiayi!

The Xi‑A Trail refers to a route from Alishan National Forest Recreation Area in Chiayi County to Sun Link Sea Recreation Area in Nantou County.
