Toronto Exhibition Explores Thousand-Year Environmental Record at Crawford Lake

Located just outside Toronto near Milton, Ontario, Crawford Lake has been studied by scientists for decades due to its unique varved sediments. These thin, alternating layers of calcite and organic sediment record environmental changes year by year, similar to tree rings. The site is a candidate for the 'golden spike' marker representing the start of the Anthropocene epoch.
