Practical Tips

* Beating the Heat: Kaohsiung experiences intense sunshine year-round with limited shade across large outdoor venues like Pier-2 and Qiaotou Sugar Refinery. Carry sun protection, stay hydrated, and bring mosquito repellent when visiting wooded areas.

* Getting Around Effortlessly: Cycling via YouBike or using the Light Rail Transit saves energy over long walking stretches across port precincts and large parks.

* Peak Hours Avoidance: Cijin ferry terminals get heavily congested on weekend afternoons. Heading out before 10:00 allows for smoother journeys.

* Night Market Schedules: Ruifeng Night Market closes every Monday and Wednesday. Plan night market visits accordingly to avoid empty streets.

* Wildlife Caution: When walking around Sizihwan and National Sun Yat-sen University, secure all food and plastic bags inside backpacks to avoid attracting wild Formosan macaques.
