New Restaurant Openings in Milan, August 2026: 6 Spots Worth Trying
Restaurants, street food, wine bars and bistros — here are all the new venues debuting on Milan's scene and worth trying in August 2026.

August in Milan is a peculiar month: the city slows down, many shutters come down for a few weeks and the streets change their face, yet the food scene never truly stops. In fact, in recent years more and more names have chosen this very period to open — a calmer moment to test the team, break in the kitchen, fine-tune the service and arrive ready when the city fills back up in September. The new openings of August 2026 capture exactly this moment of transition, between summer formats and projects built to last. There are cocktail bars with outdoor spaces, new contemporary wine bars, modern osterie, neighbourhood restaurants and hybrid spots for eating and drinking. In this selection we take you through the most interesting newcomers of August 2026.
Bar Normale
The owners in front of Bar Normale
In a Milan where every new opening often chases the surprise effect, Bar Normale takes a different path: getting back to essentials. The wine bar with kitchen, opened at via Venini 71 in the NoLo district, is the idea of Roberta Viale and Vincenzo Todaro, two wine professionals. Wine is the protagonist, with a selection focused on small Italian and European producers chosen for their stories rather than their labels. The venue's symbol is the michetta from Panificio Danelli, Milan's classic bread, which stars in simple sandwiches paired with Milano salami, Mortadella Favola or Capitelli's famous Lombard cooked pancetta. A filled michetta costs around €5, while wine spans several price points.
Trattoria Tina
Trattoria Tina opening in Milan
At via Altaguardia 16 in Porta Romana, Trattoria Tina is the new project of Sicilian chef Arianna Consiglio with partners Matias Perdomo and Simon Press. After a fine-dining career spanning ALMA, Piazza Duomo, Contraste and Exit Pastificio Urbano, Consiglio returns to traditional Italian cooking with recognisable recipes and familiar flavours. The roughly 30-seat contemporary trattoria serves vitello tonnato, aubergine caponata, Fassona tartare and eggs in green sauce. Primi include spaghetti al pomodoro (€14), herb ravioli with butter and sage, clam linguine and tagliatelle al ragù (€18). Mains (€20-24) range from milk-braised pork loin to English-style roast beef and the obligatory tripe salad with celery, lemon and parsley.
Sorelle Poma
SorellePoma_mix
On via Porpora in Lambrate, Sorelle Poma has opened — the first joint venture of Ligurian siblings Vladimiro and Caterina Poma. He's in the kitchen, she runs the floor and cellar. The cooking looks to their native Liguria with Milanese and international touches. Signature dishes include the michetta with cutlet and Russian salad (€10) and cappon magro (€16), Liguria's historic fish dish. The menu continues with Ligurian rabbit, Vietnamese-style fried panissa (€10), veal in jelly (€15), stuffed friggitelli peppers (€10) and a pasta salad (€13), plus a cellar of over 90 labels. Address: Via Porpora 154.
Retrobottega
The courtyard of Il Retrobottega
After 25 years at the helm of Il Liberty, Milanese chef Andrea Provenzani opens a new project steps from his historic restaurant: Il Retrobottega, a smaller, more informal space that tells a different Milan. Tucked into a hidden Porta Nuova courtyard, it features exposed brick, an open kitchen and a large gastronomic counter. The cooking follows the Liberty philosophy in a simpler, more convivial form, built on seasonality and Italian memory: mondeghili meatballs, parmigiana, vitello tonnato, meatballs in sauce and whipped salt cod with caponata. Also the Pomodoro Circolare macaroni with roast cherry-tomato cream (€16), beef tartare with hazelnuts, and roast marrow. Address: Via Monte Grappa 6a.
Lenni
Lenni
After the success of Onda, opened in 2024 in the Savona area, Vincenzo Cacaci and Matteo Rocca return to the same neighbourhood with a more informal project: Lenni Bar, conceived as the classic neighbourhood bar. No signature cocktails or extreme experiments — just a menu of around 20 international classics like Negroni, Americano, Spritz, Paloma, Martini Cocktail, Gibson, Rob Roy and Old Fashioned, priced €8-10. The kitchen is a freer, pop version of Onda's world: contemporary street food with sandwiches, toasts, tacos and sharing plates. Highlights include the monkfish-tripe sandwich, goose-breast sandwich, hot dog, shrimp toast, kimchi grilled cheese and a selection of raw seafood. Prices €8-13. Address: Via Stendhal 30.
Bar Macchia
Macchia has opened in the Navigli area, a new bar dedicated to the aperitivo with small plates, wines and drinks. It aims for a more intimate atmosphere than the district's classic addresses, with a selection of natural wines, sparkling wines and craft beers. The kitchen builds on Italian-style tapas — simple, seasonal dishes — with summer highlights including a fresh, light gazpacho and a gastronomic hot dog. Address: Alzaia Naviglio Grande 62.
