Barcelona's Fiestas de Sants 2026: Dates, Programme and Decorated Streets (Guide)

The Festa Major de Sants — Barcelona's other great neighbourhood festival — returns from 22 to 30 August with more than 150 concerts.

After the Festa Major de Gràcia, the Fiesta Mayor de Sants remains one of the most eagerly awaited events of the Barcelona summer. In late August, when the sun no longer burns quite so hard and the evenings turn cooler, a whole week of festivities kicks off — the perfect way to greet September and the end of the holidays with good humour.

This year, the Festes Majors de Sants 2026 will take place from 22 to 30 August and, as tradition dictates, the opening address (pregón) will fire the starting gun on nine days of activities, concerts and popular culture, culminating in the much-anticipated Piromusical firework-and-music show in Parc de l'Espanya Industrial.

When are the Fiestas de Sants 2026?

This year, the Festes Majors de Sants 2026 begin on Saturday 22 August with a street parade (pasacalle) at 7pm, winding through the neighbourhood from Cotxeres de Sants to Parc de l'Espanya Industrial.

The festivities run until Sunday 30 August, when they culminate in the much-anticipated Piromusical show in Parc de l'Espanya Industrial at 10pm.

To respect the neighbours' rest, the party winds down at 2am on weekdays. On Fridays and Saturdays — the eve of a holiday for many — the party can run until 3am.

The opening address, by Leticia Dolera

This year, the Fiesta Mayor de Sants opening address will be delivered by the acclaimed actress and film director Leticia Dolera.

The pregón will take place on Saturday 22 August at 8pm in Parc de l'Espanya Industrial. For those who can't attend in person, the event can be followed live through the channels set up by the City Council. The ceremony will also feature sign-language interpretation for the hearing impaired.

Before the opening address

Before the pregón, at 7pm, the festival parade (cercavila) sets off from Cotxeres de Sants to Parc de l'Espanya Industrial, where at 7:30pm the neighbourhood's popular-culture groups (colles) will perform their dances and displays.

What the 2026 Festa Major de Sants poster means

In this year's graphic design, Mamen Díaz wanted to convey the idea that "a lot happens at night during the fiestas mayores". To create the poster, she drew on her own sensations as the festive night falls, between music and the summer heat: friends embracing, a couple kissing and neighbours dancing on their balconies.

All the decorated streets of the 2026 Fiestas de Sants

One of the main draws of the Festes de Sants is the street decoration, a tradition dating back to 1943 that remains deeply rooted in the neighbourhood. This year, 11 streets and squares take part in the decoration contest, turning the neighbourhood into a veritable open-air museum of ephemeral art.

The decoration contest awards will be handed out on Monday 24 August at 7:30pm in the Parque de la España Industrial.

This year's decorated streets and their themes are:

Vallespir de Dalt: The universe of the film Ratatouille, set in Parisian restaurants.

Alcolea de Dalt: A recreation of the historic Montjuïc motor-racing circuit.

Alcolea de Baix: The lost sock (that odd sock we all have at home).

Finlàndia: Crazy laboratory (celebrating its 45th anniversary with scientific experiments).

Galileu: Inspired by Hollywood, complete with a walk of fame!

Guadiana: Magic bakery (chocolates, cakes, giant croissants and sweet surprises).

Plaza de la Farga: Inspired by the film The Lorax, with an environmental message.

Papin: The 1936 People's Olympiad in Berlin (with period iconography and posters).

Sagunt: Sagunt i punt (compositions of geometric figures created from the dot).

Valladolid: The Silk Road.

Vallespir de Baix: Decorations in support of dignified, quality public education and schools.

In the 2025 edition, Valladolid street took first prize from the jury thanks to its spectacular decoration.

The Fiestas de Sants 2026 concerts: a guide to 180+ performances

As every year, the streets and squares of Sants become the stages of the Fiesta Mayor, with dozens of concerts and musical performances from Saturday 22 August to Sunday 30 August.

Highlights of the 2026 programme include the Nit de concerts in Parc de l'Espanya Industrial with Juny del 99 and Mala Vida (Tuesday 25 August), plus the concert line-up organised by the Castellers de Sants in Plaça Can Climent with groups such as Ambauka (Sunday 23), Fades i Llum (Monday 24), and the Friday 28 bill featuring Bons nois, Al·lèrgiques al Pol·len and 2 de Pega DJ.

Mobility and street closures

From 22 to 30 August, traffic will be restricted on various streets for Fiesta Mayor events. To reach the festivities, public transport is recommended.

In the days beforehand, the decorated streets will be closed off to allow the assembly of facades, ceiling elements and other guarnits structures.

On Sunday 30 August, from early morning, traffic will be restricted on the stretches hosting the traditional athletic and cycling races of the Festa Major.

Accessibility at the 2026 Fiesta Mayor de Sants

The Festa Major de Sants is committed to being more diverse and accessible. This year, several activities and spaces have been adapted to guarantee the participation of people with reduced mobility, visual impairment, deafness or autism.

Going out to eat in Sants is a party in itself. As large as it is, the neighbourhood is one of the city's great gastronomic reserves, with excellent options of all kinds — and a special eye on traditional Catalan cuisine.
