Barcelona Sagrada Família Open Doors Days Welcome 20,000 Visitors for La Mercè
The Sagrada Família in Barcelona is holding its annual Open Doors Days to coincide with the La Mercè festivities. Running from September 24 to 27, the event welcomes 20,000 visitors who secured free tickets through a public draw that received 133,428 entries.
This year's tour route takes visitors through the Nativity façade, the interior of the Basilica, the Liturgical path, the museum, and the Passion façade. Inside the building, visitors can view the exhibition 'The power of a shared dream', which forms part of the commemorative programme for Gaudí Year and features a photographic look at the key moments and collective efforts behind the construction.
Another addition for this year's open house is a display in the materials yard showcasing three sculptures slated for the outside of the Chapel of the Assumption. These include figures of Saint Joseph Oriol and Saint Roch, alongside one of the four angels designed to crown the dome and support the Virgin Mary's blue mantle.
