The Diada Històrica Castellera de La Mercè takes place on 27 September at 12pm in Plaça de Sant Jaume during Barcelona's main festival. Local human tower groups from across the city gather alongside invited top-level teams, accompanied by traditional music.

Building human towers forms a key part of Barcelona's intangible cultural heritage. Traditional music plays throughout the performance as the structures take shape in the square.
Visitor Tips
Plaça de Sant Jaume fills up quickly, so arriving at least an hour early is recommended for a good view.
Spectators must keep quiet while each castell is built, as signalled by the gralla instrument, to allow participants to concentrate.
