Dubbed “possibly the best-value ticket in Japan”, the Surutto KANSAI Osaka Amazing Pass (digital version) costs just 3,500 yen and includes unlimited Osaka Metro rides for one day plus free entry to more than 40 sightseeing spots. After trying it ourselves, it really is an incredible deal!

It lives up to its reputation – for sightseeing in Osaka, this pass is almost too good to be true. We had to share the value with you!

Where to buy the Osaka Amazing Pass

We started from Tennoji Station on the Midosuji Line. The pass is a digital ticket, so you can buy it on your smartphone in advance – through the Surutto QRtto website or Klook.

Note: Check the official page for purchase methods, validity zones and other details. Note: Member registration is required to buy.

Ferris wheels and cruises in the Bay Area

After weighing our options, we headed to the Bay Area, home to the Ferris wheel and sightseeing cruises. From Tennoji we took the Midosuji Line to Hommachi, then switched to the Chuo Line and got off at Osakako Station. A five-minute walk brought us face to face with a giant Ferris wheel – the Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel, standing 112.5 metres tall. And the view…

The Kaiyukan Aquarium was right below us, and we could even see Kyocera Dome! Buoyed by the view, we made our way to the Santa Maria, a sailing-ship cruise.

Modelled on Columbus's flagship, the Santa Maria displays artefacts from the Age of Exploration inside its cabin. Stepping onto the deck, the sea breeze felt fantastic. The 45-minute Osaka Bay cruise is full of sights – the Nanko area that hosted the G20, and passing under the striking red port bridge. Since we were at it, we decided to explore other areas too!

From Osakako Station we boarded the Chuo Line again. This stretch runs above ground despite being a subway! Yumeshima Station opened on 19 January 2025, and its futuristic “spaceship”-inspired trains are a treat.

Osaka Castle for history lovers

We took the Chuo Line to Morinomiya, switched to the Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line and got off at Osaka Business Park Station, arriving at Osaka Castle. Why this route? Because we wanted to ride this!

The golden Osaka Castle Gozabune boat. Unlike Osaka Bay, this is a cruise around the castle moat, with the stone walls rising right in front of you – an unforgettable feeling. Looking up, the castle keep towers above, and you can even borrow a jingasa (samurai helmet) for a time-travel experience!

We thought about climbing the keep, but remembered the pass gives unlimited Osaka Metro rides for the day…

Kita and Minami sights are covered too

Before we knew it, we were at the Umeda Sky Building's Kuchu Teien Observatory (laughs). From Tenmabashi we took the Tanimachi Line to Higashi-Umeda, then enjoyed a short walk. This popular spot offers sweeping views of the Osaka cityscape – but it suddenly started raining, and just as we felt let down…

We spotted a rainbow! These little moments are such a delight. Note: Free entry with the pass is until 15:00; after that, show your pass for a 10% discount on admission.

On we went to Minami. Dotonbori is famous – it's what many people picture when they think of Osaka. So we hopped on the Tombori River Cruise that loops around Dotonbori!

More boats? Well, the sea, the moat and the river are all different settings, so why not. The neon-lit Dotonbori at night is truly beautiful – and the Glico sign is right in front of you!

That's how we spent a full day exploring Osaka. For reference, transport would have cost about 1,200 yen and attraction fees about 9,700 yen – around 10,900 yen in total – yet we enjoyed it all for 3,500 yen. What a bargain!

When you visit Osaka, be sure to use the Amazing Pass to travel smarter and save.
