The “Hakone Komagatake Ropeway” is a sightseeing ropeway that connects Hakone‑en to the summit of Mt. Komagatake. By taking the ropeway, you can easily enjoy the magnificent scenery at the highest point in Japan, which was previously only accessible to climbers. The ropeway stretches 1,783 metres and takes about 7 minutes one way, traversing the hillside where alpine plants bloom in all four seasons. We recommend visiting the naturally charming summit of Mt. Komagatake, which not only offers breathtaking views but also stargazing spots and hiking trails, making it perfect for those who want to catch a glimpse of the scenery and first‑time visitors to Hakone. From the summit station at an altitude of 1,327 metres, you can take in a panoramic view of Hakone and Lake Ashi. On clear days, you can also see stunning views of Mt. Fuji, Suruga Bay, and the Miura Peninsula. The summit of Hakone Komagatake features an observation deck and “Hakone Mototsumiya,” known as a shrine in the sky, allowing you to fully enjoy the scenery before you.
