United Airlines Upgrades Kaohsiung–Tokyo Route to Boeing 737 MAX 8 With Seatback Screens, Bluetooth for Every Passenger

United Airlines has marked 40 years in the Taiwan market with a major service upgrade for southern Taiwan travellers. The Kaohsiung–Tokyo Narita route, now celebrating its first anniversary, has been fully transitioned to the newly upgraded Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, replacing the older 737-800 model and delivering a significantly enhanced in-flight experience.

The new 737 MAX 8 features seatback entertainment screens at every seat, Bluetooth audio connectivity, Wi-Fi internet access, and more spacious overhead bins — a dramatic improvement for passengers flying out of Kaohsiung. The aircraft also offers more United Economy Plus seats and a completely redesigned cabin interior.

In addition to the Kaohsiung upgrade, United is adjusting its second daily Taipei–San Francisco flight from October 25, shifting departure from afternoon to 11:20 PM for greater schedule flexibility. The airline is also accelerating the rollout of Starlink satellite internet across its 777 fleet, with full completion expected by 2027, promising near-home broadband speeds in the air.
