Cinema Under the Stars at Les Invalides

Paris's most iconic monuments are competing to host the city's finest open-air cinema experiences. After the Eiffel Tower opened its first floor for screenings earlier this year, the magnificent Les Invalides is now unveiling its own star-studded programme — and it is every bit as spectacular as the venue itself.

September 3: 'The Wolf's Call' — A Submarine Thriller

On Thursday 3 September, Antonin Baudry's 'Le Chant du Loup' (The Wolf's Call) will screen on a giant canvas in the Cour du Dome. Starring Francois Civil, Omar Sy, Reda Kateb and Mathieu Kassovitz, this gripping thriller plunges audiences into the claustrophobic depths of a French nuclear submarine. Civil plays Chanteraide, a 'golden ear' sonar operator who can identify any underwater sound — a role that helped the film win the 2020 Cesar Award for Best Sound. The Dome's legendary acoustics promise to elevate the experience to unforgettable heights.

September 4: WALL-E — Pixar's Timeless Eco-Fable

The following evening, Friday 4 September, the mood shifts to pure magic with Pixar's Oscar-winning classic WALL-E, directed by Andrew Stanton. Nearly two decades on, the story of a lonely waste-compacting robot left behind on a trash-choked Earth has lost none of its poetry — or its relevance. The near-silent opening half-hour, brought to life entirely through the metallic language of the titular hero by legendary R2-D2 sound designer Ben Burtt, will shimmer under the Parisian night sky.
