The Grévin wax museum in Paris was established in 1882 by journalist Arthur Meyer. He borrowed the concept from Madame Tussauds and named the museum after its first artistic director, caricaturist Alfred Grévin.

The venue features about 450 wax characters alongside baroque architecture. Visitors can take photographs with figures such as Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi and Pablo Picasso. A historical tableau from 1889 depicts Charlotte Corday murdering Jean-Paul Marat, featuring the actual knife and bathtub used in the event.
